What is Pediatric Day Health?

Pediatric Day Health is a daycare which provides an organized program of therapeutic, social, developmental programs to children with medical needs, including terminally illness and technology dependencies. Daily nursing care is provided.

How do I know if my child qualifies for Scribbles & Giggles programs?

What happens if there is an emergency situation with my child?

Scribbles and Giggles nurses are Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified and are specially trained to handle any emergency. In the course of any significant emergency, Scribbles & Giggles will contact emergency medical services.

How are services paid?

Scribbles and Giggles is a vendor of the San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) and is a Medi-Cal provider. With the exception of therapy services (see below), private insurance is not accepted.

Do you offer drop in daycare?

Due to staffing ratios and the medical needs of the children, Scribbles and Giggles requires scheduling one month in advance. Advanced planning assists in determining the type and required number of staff needed to care for all the children. To provide a continuity of care, children are required to attend program a minimum of 4 hours 2 times per week.

What is “Date Night” and how do I receive this type of service?

Date Night is available to all active program members on a first come, first serve sign-up basis. Children at Scribbles and Giggles are paid for by SARC or Medi-Cal. The rate for siblings is $6.75 per hour per child.

What is the ratio of staff to children?

There is one staff member for every three children (1:3).

Are therapy services provided?

All children receive therapy consultations on an ongoing basis. Individual therapy services can be provided through the Early Start program and/or private insurance. Prior to starting, therapy services must be pre-authorized.

What type of activities does the center provide?

A daily schedule of activities is provided. Children participate in circle time, gross motor time, art and fine motor activities, feeding group and outdoor play (weather permitting). Once a week our canine companion “Delta” visits and works with the children both individually and in a group.

How does your center based infant program differ from your daycare program?

Both programs feature a structured schedule of activities, however, children in the center based infant program work on specific goals related to his/her individualized family service plan (IFSP). In contrast, children in the daycare program work on a general program of developmental activities.

Is transportation provided?

In some cases, transportation in our wheelchair accessible bus is available for use to/from school and to/from our center based early intervention program.
